We are so excited to have this firecracker join our DTS Teaching Family! Leslie Jara was born and raised in West Valley City, Utah, but her heart resides in Durango, Mexico. Dance became a huge part of Leslie’s life after the passing of her brother at an early age. It was her way of grieving, communicating, and expressing how she felt. After many years of self training, her work was put to the test when she tried out for the Drill Team at Granger High School. For four years she competed with her fellow “Excaliburs” and even led them through their competition season as President of the team her Senior year. Alongside Drill, she was also on her school’s Dance Company and Track and Field. Her natural born leadership has taught her a lot about helping those around her succeed all while fighting for her own dreams. After graduating high school with a 4.0 GPA, Leslie decided to continue her studies at the University of Utah. She recently graduated and earned a BFA in Modern Dance. She’s worked as a JuntosGlobal Teacher, teaching dance to students in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Mexico via Zoom.
